For the first time since 2014, Greensburg Central Catholic girls soccer program will be returning to Hershey, cruising to a 5-0 win against Cambridge Springs in the PIAA Girls Class 1A Semifinal match at Norwin High School on Tuesday night.

Greensburg Central Catholic will now take on Southern Columbia in the PIAA Class 1A on Friday at 11 a.m.  at HersheyPark Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In a match of the District 7 champs and the District 10 champs. Cambridge Springs made the journey south to Westmoreland County to the Castle at North Huntingdon to battle Greensburg Central Catholic.

GCC got on the board early when Sara Felder made it 1-0 only three minutes into the contest.

Playing to its strengths, the Centurions controlled possession, eventually finding their second goal near the midway point of the first half when Sam Felder doubled the lead.

Cambridge Springs goal keeper Maddie Yanc stood tall all game. She would make her best save of the night early in the second half to keep her team in the match.

Still, it was only a matter of time for GCC. Sure enough, Jessica Nemeth made it 3-0 after collecting a deflected shot, then blasting the rebound into the back of the net.

GCC continued on the attack when Sam Felder beat her defender to break and with a technical finish, beat Yanc to increase the lead to 4-0. The Centurions kept bringing more pressure, resulting in three more goals including: an unfortunate own goal from Cambridge Springs when the ball found the back of a defender’s leg and went in; Bethany Winor splitting two defenders to get into the box , the delivered a clean strike to make it 6-0

In the waning minute of play Sara Felder made it double-brace for the Felder sisters with one final score that gave the Centurion a commanding 7-0 final score line as they earned a trip to Hershey.
