Robert Morris men drop finale to Milwaukee

From Robert Morris University Athletic Department report

Robert Morris’ men’s soccer team dropped their 2021 season final Monday afternoon against the UWM Panthers, falling by a final score of 4-0.

RMU finishes the season at 1-6-1 (1-6-1 HL) overall.

“Hats off to Milwaukee, they were very good today and well coached,” Robert Morris’ head coach Jason O’Keefe said.

“We learned some great lessons today which we will take forward to continue to develop.”

The Panthers took advantage of a couple quick goals in the first half, going up 3-0 within a span of ten minutes to take control of play Monday afternoon.

Following a 30-minute delay at the start of the game due to lightning, RMU managed to survive an early chance from Raul Medina after Grant Glorioso was in position to make the stop on his volley on goal.

Despite the save, Milwaukee scored twice in the span of 58 seconds to take a 2-0 lead before a third tally nine minutes later courtesy of Paolo Gratton made it a three-goal lead for the Panthers a half hour into the game.

Sebastian Sjo managed to put one on target for RMU in the 34′, however his effort sailed wide as the Colonials looked to chip away at the deficit in the second.

The Colonials nearly got on the board in the 59′ following their second corner in just over nine minutes, however Bryan Akongo‘s effort was saved in the box following the set piece.

Robert Morris continued to search for a goal following the near-miss from Akongo, however a fourth tally for the Panthers in the 70′ put the game out of reach after David Cox followed up a rebound off of an initial save from Glorioso.

A late corner for RMU in the 82′ provided one last chance for RMU to get on the board, however nothing came of the set piece as the Panthers held on to secure the 4-0 victory in the 2021 regular-season finale.
