Still time to sign-up for Open Field’s PLAY4PURPOSE charity soccer tournament

Open Field’s PLAY4PURPOSE charity soccer tournament is a fun way for soccer players in Pittsburgh to make an impact in the lives of more than 1,000 youth in PIttsburgh and West Africa.

Open Field’s mission is to improve the lives and futures of youth through sport. They do this through programming that promotes life skills, leadership, health, girls’ empowerment, and peace through the global game of soccer.

About the event:

What:    7v7 co-ed adult soccer tournament

When:    Saturday, August 7 (first games kick off at 9 a.m.)

Where:   Schenley Oval (Pittsburgh's Schenley Park, in Oakland)

Who:      anyone 18+ (competitive & friendly divisions)

Why:      Have fun, raise funds, collect equipment, and bring awareness to Open Field's Soccer for Social Impact programming that impacts more than 1,500                     youth in PIttsburgh and in Africa.


REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW THROUGH JULY 6TH

Note: Open Field's website says June 30th but they're are extending one week. Teams do not need a full roster to register - they just need to commit to the mission & fundraising goal ($1k between the team... less than $100 pp)

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
