Pitt’s Amanda West named ACC Offensive Player of the Week

Pitt’s Amanda West was named the first ACC Offensive Player of the Week of the 2021 season, the league announced Tuesday. West has now earned the award once in every season of her career.

The forward was named the BancFirst Cowgirl Soccer Invitational Offensive MVP after scoring two goals with an assist in a pair of wins. West became the program’s all-time leader in career goals (24) in the 3-0 shutout of Tulsa, finding the back of the net from a free kick outside the box. The preseason All-ACC selection also logged an assist on Pitt’s first goal of the season scored by Ellie Coffield, which proved to be the game-winner against the Golden Hurricane.

In Sunday’s match against No. 16 Oklahoma State, West headed in a cross to tie the game at 2-2 and force overtime, where Pitt went on to win the contest for its first victory over a ranked team in 13 years.

In its home opener, Pitt will be facing Cleveland St. on Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
