Box Score

Game Summary

Pitt women’s soccer team rebounded from its lone loss of the season with a resounding 7-0 win against St. Francis (PA).

Former Norwin High School standout Emily Harrigan scored her first two goals as a Panther to get the scoring barrage going.

In addition, Kate McKay, McKenzie Evers tacked on first half goals, while Sarah Schupansky, Emily Yaple and Leah Pais contributed to Pitt’s second half scores.

The Panthers improved to 6-1 overall for the season. They return to action on Sunday, when they host Towson at 1 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harrigan’s first came in the 15th minute. Hailey Davidson sent a cross into the box, and Sarah Schupansky headed it over to Harrigan for the one-touch shot.

The next Harrigan goal came not even two minutes later on another one-touch shot. Ellie Coffield put in a tight pass in the box to Landy Mertz, who tapped it over to Harrigan in the middle of the box.

Kate McKay scored the third goal and her first of the season in the 38th minute. After a corner kick was headed down right in front of McKay, she kicked the bouncing ball in the right side of the net from a few yards out.

Krystyna Rytel converted a free kick a few yards out from the top of the box in the 42nd minute, which hit off the cross bar and over the goal line for her second goal of the season. (Goal was originally given to Mackenzie Evers, who headed in the apparent rebound in afterwards).

Schupansky opened the scoring in the second half with her fourth goal of the season. In the 48th minute, she one-touched a shot from point-blank range with the inside of her right foot on a cross from the deep right side of the box from Mertz, who tracked down a cross from Harrigan.

Emily Yaple shot deflected off a defender in the 58th minute for her third of the year. Anna Bout and Davidson picked up assists.

Leah Pais recorded the last goal with 33 seconds left, making nifty moves to evade two defenders from midfield and in the box to put a shot in the left side of the net for her second of the season.

Pitt finished a three-game homestand and nonconference play with Senior Day Sunday against Towson at 1 p.m.
