Pittsburgh City United FC defeated division opponent Western Ville CF 2-0 to clinch a spot in the Northeast Beltway North Divisional Playoffs.
With two games remaining, City United (6-2-2, 20pts) currently sit second in the division behind Inter Atlantic FC (7-1-1, 22pts).
The scoring opened early on in the 14th minute when the team’s leading scorer Christian Kapanda scored his 5th goal of the season on a beautiful chip shot to make it 1-0.
Battling injuries to six regular starters and numerous key reserves, City United played a 4-4-2 formation for the first time this season, limiting Western Ville’s wide attacking efforts.
PCUFC’s goalkeeper Judler Delva, earned an impressive clean sheet, with 13 saves, including one on a penalty in the first half.
Mathew Teitelbaum added his fourth goal of the season on an assist by Jett Blaschka, who leads the team with three helpers.
City United will be back in action this Saturday at 6:30pm at UPMC Graham Field for their regular home finale when they last place Athletic United FC as City United will next look to clinch home field advantage for the Beltway North Semi-Finals, which will to be held Wednesday November 10.
