Pitt’s Amanda West Selected to Canadian National Team Camp

From University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department report

Pitt women’s soccer junior Amanda West was selected to the Canada Women’s National Team Training Camp for the November FIFA Window from Nov. 21-Dec. 1, the Canadian Soccer Association announced Thursday.

The camp is in Mexico City with Canada scheduled to face Mexico in two friendlies Nov. 27 and Nov. 30.

The camp will be the first experience with the Canadian National Team at any level for West. All but four members of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist squad are part of the 27-player camp, including standout professionals Christine Sinclair, Jessie Fleming and Stephanie Labbé.

West garnered All-ACC honors for the third time in her career with a third-team selection despite missing seven games this fall. West ranked in the ACC second in game-winning goals (five), tied for fifth in goals (10) and tied for sixth in points (23). West scored in nine of 11 games played with four 3+ point games. She opened the season with a five-game scoring streak, the second-longest in program history.
