If you include the U.S. Open Cup, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC have lost their last four matches on the road, including the latest, 3-1 loss at Tampa Bay, on Saturday night.
With the latest loss in Florida, the Hounds (now 7-3-1 in league play) dropped to fourth place in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference standings.
Mark Goodman joined me to as we tried to dissect why the Hounds are struggling away from home.

he Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC went toe-to-toe with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in St. Petersburg, FL, on Saturday night.
Pittsburgh started off strong, getting the early goal, thanks to an Alex Dixon shot which deflected into goal.
However, as the match wore on, the Rowdies outlasted the Hounds, rolling to a 3-1 victory.
The Hounds, coming off a pair of 1-0 wins at home, opted to keep playing on the front foot, even after taking the early lead.
Head Coach Bob Lilley wanted to take the game to two-time defending Eastern Conference champions.
“I thought the effort was there, but we weren’t quite good enough on the night,” Lilley said after the match.
“Overall, I think it was a good effort, but at times we allowed them too much space. But there’s something we can take from this game, and now we have to come home and get ready to go back down to Miami.”
