Men’s soccer Head Coach Jay Vidovich announced the addition of Bryce Cregan to the coaching staff today.

A Pitt alum who graduated in the spring of 2017, Cregan makes his way back to Oakland after a stint as assistant coach at San Diego State University last season. Prior to San Diego State, Cregan was a volunteer assistant coach under Vidovich and the team from 2018 to the spring of 2021.

Cregan replaces Rich Costanzo, who left to take the Head Coaching position at George Mason earlier this year.

He was instrumental in guiding Pitt to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1965 in 2019 and was a part of the historic 2020 College Cup run.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with Bryce once again,” said Vidovich. “Bryce is passionate about the game, loves Pitt and understands what we want our culture to look like and he will play a big part in the future success of our program.”

As a player for the Panthers, the two-time letter winner appeared and started in all 32 games played and totaled eight shots, three shots on goal and 2,852 minutes. He played his first two collegiate seasons at Akron before transferring to Pitt prior to the 2016 season.

Born in Dallastown, Pa., Cregan attended Dallastown Area High School where he was a four-star recruit and the No. 2-rated prospect out of the state of Pennsylvania according to TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The Panthers are coming off their second-straight ACC Coastal division title and second-straight Elite Eight appearance in 2021. Pitt returns five All-ACC players a year after scoring 52 goals and tallying a program best 63 assists.
