New England Revolution have recalled former Pitt standout Edward Kizza from Memphis, where he was with the USL Championship club since the start of the season in March.

Where things get interesting is that Kizza may end up back in Pittsburgh very soon, as he could be loaned back out to the Riverhounds SC.

According to reports from the The Bent Musket’s Seth Macomber and Josh Nye, Kizza, who saw sparing amount of playing time in New England last season and early this year in Memphis, will be loaned back out to the Riverhounds SC this week.

A source told Macomber late last week that Kizza will soon join the Riverhounds.

After three outstanding seasons at the University of Pittsburgh, where he helped turn Pitt into a perennial College Cup contender, Kizza opted out of playing his senior year.

Former Pitt scoring whiz Edward Kizza selected by New England Revolution in MLS Draft

Revolution selected Kizza with the 24th pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.

Kizza appeared in 11 matches with the first team, where he notched one assist over 259 minutes of action. Kizza appeared in 12 games for Revolution II, where he notched five goals over 1,006 minutes.

This season during his loan to Memphis, who are currently ahead of the Riverhounds SC in the Eastern Conference standings, Kizza appeared in eight matches with 901 FC, without a goal in 111 minutes of action.

Riverhounds SC Head Coach Bob Lilley has told Pittsburgh Soccer Now Kizza was nearly loaned to the Hounds last season, but that never materialized. During the 2018 and 2019 college off season, Kizza trained intermittenly with the Riverhounds.

If Kizza would come to Pittsburgh, he would joinand provide depth to an already talented attacking unit that includes the USL Championship’s All-Time leading goal scorer, Dane Kelly, Cameroonian Albert Dikwa, veteran Alex Dixon and Russell Cicerone, who leads the team in goals with eight, and the league’s all-time leading assist king, Kenardo Forbes.

When Pittsburgh Soccer Now reached out to Riverhounds SC officials about this late last week, the club didn’t have any comment.
