Avonworth sails past Keystone Oaks in the 1st Rnd, 10-0

Avonworth’s girls soccer squad, a perennial favorite to win the WPIAL 2A championship, blew through their first round opponents Keystone Oaks with a deciding 10-0 win on Tuesday night.

The Antelopes used a mix of speed, size, and incisive passing to get on the board early. Keystone Oaks kept fighting, and hung around through the end of the first half with the score still a reasonable 3-0. But Avonworth restarted after the break with their hair on fire to score three in quick succession out of the huddle to make the result inevitable.

Forward Gianna Babusci scored three goals for Avonworth. Katie Petrina banged in two, and Fiona Mahan, Caroline Sweeney, Alessio Padalino, and Tessa Burens also notched goals for the ‘Lopes.
