Pitt M Valentin Noel and D Jackson Gillman Named to College Soccer News All-American Teams

Pitt senior midfielder Valentin Noel and first-year defender Jackson Gillman each made a place on College Soccer News All-American Teams, the organization announced last month.

Noel earned Second-Team All-America honors and Gillman earned First-Team Freshman All-America Squad.

Noel led the team with 11 goals in 2022, including four in the NCAA Tournament. That included two penalty kick goals in the 3-0 victory over Akron in the Second Round, the game tying goal in the Kentucky match in the Sweet 16 and then the game winner over Portland last Saturday in the Elite Eight. Noel finished first on the Panthers with 25 points this season as well.

Those 11 goals finished as second best in the ACC and he tied for third with those 25 points.

Noel also placed on the First-Team All-ACC, earned United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American honors,

Austin FC drafted Noel with the No. 20 pick in the First Round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft in December. He is the second player to earn a First Round draft pick, with Real Salt Lake drafting teammate forward Bertin Jacquesson with the No. 16 pick.

Gillman played a large role in a fantastic Pitt defense in 2022, starting every game at centre-back and playing the third most minutes on the team.

He solidified a Panthers defensive unit that recorded eight shutouts, tied for fourth most in a season, and the lowest average goals allowed per game in program history at 1.02.

Gillman also placed in the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman  Best XI First Team and the ACC All-Freshman team.
