After spending time covering the Pittsburgh Riverhounds for a few different outlets and even working for a season with the franchise to write game summaries, I decided to go all-in to provide coverage of Pittsburgh soccer in our region by creating Pittsburgh Soccer Report in February 2015.
My goal initially was to provide in-depth coverage of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of United Soccer League (USL) that would go beyond what the mainstream media in our region had been doing. Quickly this little project developed into a site that has become a resource, a provider of area soccer news as well as place where I provide my own personal, objective insights on all happenings from the Riverhounds to scholastic/youth scene and even international soccer as it relates to our region.
In the past two years, I’ve been able to witness and share the story of some of the most exciting games in the history of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ franchise (Miracle on the Mon anyone?) — and some of the lowest moments as well (how about a direct kick to the back with metal cleats anyone?) — and everything in between.
I would like to thank everyone following my work here on Pittsburgh Soccer Report, for acknowledging and appreciating my efforts to bring you soccer news and insights — and for all of the kind words in the past two years as well as the feedback and critiques.
Pittsburgh Soccer Report’s coverage will continue to evolve and grow. In the past year we’ve expanded to include a partnership and working relationship with the Beautiful Game Network, creating a regular Pittsburgh Scholastic Soccer Show podcast and I’ve been a guest on other shows as well.
In addition, I am excited about some other features and more partnerships that I’ll be involved with in the months to come — including having some more contributors to Pittsburgh Soccer Report!
Even if you are not passionate about soccer, new to the game or simply are looking for more news or information about the world’s most popular sport in our region, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading Pittsburgh Soccer Report and spread the word about this site.
Again, thanks for your support, and I look forward to continuing to share this forum with all of you for another year!
