VIDEO: Riverhounds first-ever game vs Cincinnati River Hawks (5-1-99)

As promised, twenty years to the day after the first game in Pittsburgh Riverhounds history, we have digitized edition of the majority of the A-League match between the Riverhounds and Cincinnati River Hawks on May 1, 1999 at Bethel Park Stadium.

Enjoy!

The Hounds battled Cincinnati to a 2-2 draw in regulation. The team took part in a shootout (MLS style that was used back then) — with the River Hawks prevailing. The video does get cut off at the very end of the shootout when Hounds’ Ed Childs steps up for his turn in the shootout.

ON THIS DAY: Riverhounds’ first game in franchise history (May 1, 1999)
