The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC battled Rhode Island FC in an important Eastern Conference showdown with playoff implications at Highmark Stadium on Saturday night.

With the win, Pittsburgh is now above the Eastern Conference playoff line for the first time this season, as they currently sit in seventh place in the standings, with just six matches remaining.

PSN’s Colton Coreschi was our man on the spot at Highmark, providing the match report (below) but also caught post match interviews with Head Coach Bob Lilley, along with goal scorers Bertin Jacquesson, who made a triumphant return to the Steel City and Bradley Sample, who nabbed his first pro goal.

POST MATCH INTERVIEWS / CLIPS – BOB LILLEY, BRADLEY SAMPLE & BERTIN JACQUESSON

Bertin Jacquesson: “Being back in Pittsburgh feels great. There are a lot of people here I know, so I feel happy and welcome”

“Danny was in the midfield and I was thinking to get on the back shoulder of the defender,” Bertin Jacquesson added on the match’s opening goal.

“He played a perfect ball so I could hit it the first time.”

Bob Lilley: “When we’ve been good, we’re a tough out for anybody”

“We demonstrated early in situations how good we could be, but we’d been inconsistent,” Riverhounds HC Bob Lilley said.

“We didn’t manage games well, gave up goals at wrong times and wasted chances. When we’ve been good, we’re a tough out for anybody. The reality is we’re more collective now. There’s less individual play.”
