Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that tonight’s match would pit a pair of teams looking to stay near the top of the USL Eastern Conference standings.
Sure, Louisville City FC is a strong outfit, with a lot of key returning players and some solid off-season acquisitions, are currently in fourth place despite a choppy form of late that’s seen two draws and a loss at league-leading Tampa Bay.   In contrast, the Riverhounds are surging in league play, winning three in a row.

Here’s my additional pregame notes and link to my game-day blog on DK Pittsburgh Sports.

If you missed it earlier in the week, Louisville City defeated local amateur club Tartan Devils FC, 9-0 at Highmark Stadium in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
