PIAA boys soccer championship – semifinal match-ups, sites and times set

Seven WPIAL schools have moved on to the PIAA (state) playoff championship semifinal round, with games scheduled for this coming Tuesday. The sites, match-ups and game times have already been announced.

Winners of these semifinal games will advance to the PIAA Finals to be played in Hershey on Friday and Saturday.

Pittsburgh Soccer Now plans to have previews and on-site coverage of select all-WPIAL semifinal games.

Seneca Valley vs Radnor – 6:30 pm – at Chambersburg

Wilson vs Unionville – 7 pm – at Upper Perkioman

4A boys final to be played Saturday, November 17, 6:30 pm – Hershey Park Stadium  



Franklin Regional vs West Allegheny – 8 pm – at Fox Chapel

Strath Haven vs Archbishop Wood – 7 pm – at West Chester

3A boys final to be played Friday, November 16, 6:30 pm – Hershey Park Stadium  



Midd West vs Fleetwood – 7 pm – at Central Dauphin

Shady Side Academy vs Deer Lakes – 8 pm – at Mars

2A boys final to be played Saturday, November 17, at 1:30 pm – Hershey Park Stadium 



Avonworth vs Greensburg Central Catholic – 6 pm – at Fox Chapel

Faith Christian vs Millvale – 5 pm – at Central Dauphin

1A boys final to be played Friday, November 16, 1:30 pm – Hershey Park Stadium 


PIAA Past Champions / Runner-ups

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
