Pittsburgh Hotspurs to celebrate Girls and Women in Sports Day

The Pittsburgh Hotspurs organization is teaming up with Pittsburgh’s leading women in athletics for the second annual Girls and Women in Sports Event Thursday, February 6th, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Thelma Lovette YMCA (on Centre Ave in Pittsburgh).

The focus of the event is to celebrate women in sports and inspire female athletes in Pittsburgh to realize they can continue their athletic careers here in Pittsburgh, PA.

This year’s event will feature the 2020 Women in Sports Q&A panel, a collaboration of women representing a wide variety of roles within the local athletic community.

In addition to the panel, the Girls and Women in Sports Day event will feature representatives from seven local women’s sports teams in seven sports:

“The discussion panel portion of the evening, to me, is such an important piece to this event for so many reasons. Foremost, it is no secret that across the board there is a lack of women in high ranking leadership positions; and the male-dominated sport and wellness industry is definitely no exception.”  Jordan Daloisio, general manager for the Pittsburgh Hotspurs WPSL team and the Hotspurs’ girls youth development phase leader shared.

2020 Women in Sports Panel members include:

Ebony MontgomeryAllegheny YMCA Welcome Center Supervisor and Pittsburgh Passion QB
Chelsea Zahn, Partnership Activation Manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers
Stephanie Harrison, Counseling Psychologist at WVU and Founder of Steel City FC
Maria Rose, Environmental Journalist, Routesetter and Coach at ASCEND, and Director of MC1R (Many Colors, One Route)
Rebecca Trapp, Director of Forge Rugby
Annie Schiller, personal trainer, a former player for the Pittsburgh Puffins
Amanda Fortunato, Drayer Physical Therapy and player for the Pittsburgh Puffins
