Major League Soccer today announced the 44 invitees for the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase, which will take place this week, December 11-14, in San Diego, CA, and in keeping up with tradition from the past half decade, there will be Pitt men’s soccer players included in the group.

Senior Michael Sullivan and junior Casper Svendby will be among the participants.

Sullivan’s soccer journey has been well documented by Pittsburgh Soccer Now, having helped led Deer Lakes boys soccer program to new heights then moving on to Pitt, where the Tarentum native contributed to the program from 2021-24, scoring six goals, adding two assists and becoming a versatile player who started in 41 of his 67 appearances, while being utilized in a number of positions at midfield and as a defender. Sullivan also contributed to Steel City FC’s NPSL Great Lakes Division championship squads in 2022 and 2023.

A transfer from Dayton, with one more year of eligibility, Svendby was a key addition to the Panthers in the 2024 campaign, primarily as an outside back and winger, who earned ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors.

The Drammen, Norway native started 17 of 19 matches at Pitt in 2024, contributing three goals and four assists.

The four-day talent evaluation event will give technical staffs from each MLS club an opportunity to scout top collegiate prospects in the nation ahead of MLS SuperDraft 2025, which will take place on Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. ET. Please note that the list of attendees is subject to change prior to the event.

“The adidas College Showcase is an instrumental part of the evaluation process for top collegiate talent from across the country and we are excited to welcome our clubs to San Diego for this year’s event,” said Alecko Eskandarian, Vice President, Player Relations & Player Development. “The college soccer landscape has a longstanding tradition of developing players who go on to have successful careers in MLS, with many first showcasing their talent at this event before making an impact in the league. We look forward to this year’s group of prospects making their mark on the 2024 College Showcase.”

The 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA. The eligible player list for MLS SuperDraft 2025 will be announced at a later date following the 2024 adidas MLS College Showcase.
