Hounds recall Joe Greenspan on loan from Minnesota United FC

With a crucial game coming up on Saturday, and without center back Jamal Jack available due to yellow card accumulation suspension, the Riverhounds have recalled defender Joe Greenspan on loan from Minnesota United FC of MLS for their match against New York Red Bulls II on Saturday, Sept. 30.
MLS has entered into a 2017 Standard USL Loan Agreement for Greenspan. This agreement contains a right of recall for MLS, which enables Greenspan to play for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Minnesota United FC throughout the duration of the loan period, subject to roster rules and compliance.
The move comes at a crucial time for the Hounds, as they will be without starting center back Jamal Jack due to yellow card accumulation for this weekend’s game at Red Bulls II on Saturday.
Greenspan, 25, spent a brief stint in Pittsburgh earlier this season, making a considerable impact for the club in eight starts. The Westfield, New Jersey native led the club with 51 clearances during his time in Black and Gold, as well as anchored the back line to four clean sheets and earned USL Team of the Week honors twice in the month of May.
Since returning to the Loons, he has featured in three matches, twice as a starter, despite an unfortunate series of injuries, including a suffering a concussion in a match where he was carted off the field.
Upon returning to the Hounds, Greenspan will be reuniting, again, with his college coach at Navy, Dave Brandt.
The Riverhounds are currently four points out of a playoff spot with three matches remaining in the 2017 regular season.
