FINAL SCOREBOARD: PIAA girls soccer championship, first-round

No time for rest, as 11 WPIAL teams will be hoping to make a run at the PIAA Soccer Championship and getting to Hershey as first-round games begin tonight.

Only one defending PIAA champion from the WPIAL has returned to the girls field, and that’s Shady Side Academy in Class 1A.  The first game will start at 3:30 p.m. when Class 4A runner-up, Peters Twp takes on Erie McDowell at Dollinger Field in Erie.

4:51 – Peters now up 3-1!

4:47 – Peters takes the lead, 2-1

4:22 – HALFTIME – Peters Twp 1, Erie McDowell 1

4:15 – GOAL – PETERS TWP ties it up.

Natalie Daube rips a shot that bounces in. 1-1 Peters Township and McDowell with 9:39 left in the first half.

4:04 – Kylee Cross, the hero of the State College subregional, makes a nice move and rips a shot into back of net to give Erie the 1-0 lead.

4:02 – Erie McDowell strikes first.
