Hounds release preseason schedule

Riverhounds SC has announced its 2019 preseason schedule — and they won’t be traveling far.  Actually, they won’t be traveling at all as all matches taking place at Highmark Stadium.

Consisting of eight total matches, the Hounds will kick off preseason action against Cleveland State University on Feb. 8. The club also will battle in-state rival Bethlehem Steel FC on Feb. 24 and local schools Duquesne University (Feb. 15) and the University of Pittsburgh (Feb. 22).

The Hounds will begin preseason training on Monday, Feb. 4. All preseason games are free to attend for the public.

The entire preseason schedule is listed below. Please note game times are subject to change.

2019 Preseason Schedule:

Friday Feb. 8 – Cleveland State University – 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Sunday, Feb. 10 – Gannon University – 1 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Friday, Feb. 15 – Duquesne University – 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Sunday, Feb. 17 – University of Charleston (WV) – 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Friday, Feb. 22 – University of Pittsburgh – 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Sunday Feb. 24 – Bethlehem Steel FC – 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Saturday, March 2 – University of Akron – 3 p.m. at Highmark Stadium
Saturday, March 9 – Toronto FC II – 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
