CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY WRAP-UP SHOW WITH JOHN KRYSINSKY & RYAN KELLY

MATCHDAY UPDATES

Post-game with Dom and Fritz Reiter, the brothers who hooked up on the game winning goal.

10:17 – GOAL | QUAKER VALLEY GETS GOLDEN GOAL – DOM REITER

We’ll have more after the match.

10:10 – END OF 1st OT – still 3-3

9:59 – 93′ | Deer Lakes playing with so much composure — keeping it, knocking it around the edge of the box for much of first 10 mins of OT. Quaker finally gets forward — and cross into far side finds Weston Grant who’s header goes wide right.

9:45 – END OF REGULATION

It’s been a wild one between @BoysLakes and @qv_soccer
80 minutes hasn’t settled it.
As they’re deadlocked, 3-3.
Buckle up folks — we’re now going to extra time in the WPIAL 2A boys soccer final.

9:29 – GOAL | 68′ – DEER LAKES – A.J. Dorman ties it up.

A.J. Dorman slides it in! And we’re tied again. After a through ball and a collision at the top of the box, Dorman took the deflected ball — sent a low shot inside left post. 3-3

9:23 – GOAL | 62′ – QUAKER VALLEY – Rowan Kriebel

Quaker takes the lead again two minutes after Deer Lakes equalizes.

A long distance strike from about 25 yards!

9:20 – GOAL | 60′ – DEER LAKES – Michael Sullivan

Michael Sullivan from close range, with clinical finish. Terrific work up the right end line by Ryan Rodgers shaking off QV defender, and providing the assist. We’re now deadlocked, 2-2. 60′

8:46 – GOAL | 39′ – QUAKER VALLEY – Keller Chamovitz

What a strike! nails a free kick from 30 yards — bending it up and over the wall into the upper left corner!
Quakers now lead Deer Lakes, 2-1.

8:28 – GOAL | 26′ – QUAKER VALLEY – Dom Reiter

Dom Reiter fights off a couple of Deer Lakes defenders in front of goal — and drives a low shot past Deer Lakes’ keeper Austin Mravintz

8:05 – GOAL | 4′ – DEER LAKES Tyler Tofil

The senior right back finds a loose ball on right edge of goal box and drills upward and past the crowd in front of him, and Quaker Valley keeper Rees Edwards for the early 1-0 lead.

8:01 – the final match, between Deer Lakes and Quaker Valley for 2A Boys supremacy  — has kicked off!

Post-match with GCC’s hero, Nate Ward.

7:35 – FINAL | GCC holds on — and beat Winchester Thurston to capture the WPIAL Class 1A title, 1-0.

Nate Ward’s goal was the difference for the Centurians.
#WPIALSoccer

7:16 –

7:10 – 59′ | both teams getting into box, but it remains 1-0 GCC.

6:57 – 47′ | Really great build-up for for Winchester Thurston — ends with a point blank chance for Oliver Daboo — but his hard shot is right at GCC keeper Max House

Still 1-0 GCC

6:41 – HALF | GCC leads WT, 1-0

6:31 – 32′ | GOAL – Nate Ward

What a goal. What a shot.

Ward blew by a pair of defenders, got to the right edge of the goal box, then somehow unleashed a shot to the upper left corner  to give the Centurians the 1-0 lead.

6:00 – Greensburg CC fans remain — as the boys now kickoff (on time!) against their section rivals, Winchester Thurston.

Post match with Melissa Riggins

5:34 – FINAL – Shady Side hangs on to win its 4th WPIAL title — beating GCC 2-1. Look for more post-match reaction here and on PSN.

5:17 – 68′ | GCC hunting for the equalizer — can’t convert on corner played top of box.

5:05 – 55′ | GOAL – Greensburg Central Catholic | 2-1 SSA

Bethany Winnor gets to ball sent into box from a long free kick, beating Shady Side GK Molly Skvorak to the ball — and pokes it in!
5:02 – 52′ | GCC on the move again. This time, it’s Samantha Nemeth at the top of the box — plenty of room to unleash a right footed shot that forces SSA keeper Molly Skvorak to the ground to make the save.

4:58 – 49′ | a decent opportunity for GCC as they draw a foul about 28 yards from goal. Free kick opportunity is pulled too far left by sophomore forward, Samantha Felder.

4:50 – 2nd half has commenced.

4:37 – HALF | Shady Side leads section rival Greensburg Central Catholic 2-0, on goals from Gabby Hill-Junkie and Melissa Riggins.

4:15 – 20′ | GOAL – Shady Side takes 1-0 lead.

Gabby Hill-Junkie gets to a Melissa Riggins ball that gets through the box!

4:12 – 17′ | only real decent advances have come from Shady Side. Melissa Riggins with a shot on goal in the second minute, then another shot just now that was deflected and cleared by GCC.

4 p.m. – SSA-GCC have kicked off on time!
