Pitt women’s soccer freshman defender Athalie Palomo has been called up to Mexico’s Under-20 National Team Training Camp held at the High Performance Center in Mexico City from Dec. 10-20. The camp helps determine the makeup of the next camp before CONCACAF Qualifying for the next World Cup.

Palomo has attended several camps along with competing in multiple international tournaments for Mexico’s National Team. She was a member of the Mexican team in the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. In her junior year of high school, she was called up to the U-20 team where the squad played in the Lakeside Cup International Women’s Youth Tournament in China.

A starting defender for the Panthers for all but one game, Palomo made quite an instant impact on the back line. She scored Pitt’s first goal of the year and then assisted on the game-winning goal in the 5-4 season-opening win against Loyola Marymount.
