Friendly vs Columbus Crew highlights Hounds preliminary preseason schedule

The Riverhounds SC announced its preliminary preseason schedule on Monday, as an initial six-game preseason slate that includes all home matches against college teams, USL foe Loudoun United FC plus an encounter against Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew SC. 

The club also shared that there’s a possibility of more preseason matches being added at a later date.

The Hounds kick off its preseason with a match against Villanova University on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Highmark Stadium. The Hounds will also host Penn State University (Saturday, Feb. 15) and the University of Pittsburgh (Wednesday, Feb. 19) before making a road trip to battle Columbus Crew SC on Monday, March 2.

All preseason matches at Highmark Stadium are free to attend for the public. Riverhounds SC will open training camp on Monday, Feb. 3.

The Hounds will begin its season on March 14, at Charlotte, and its home schedule on March 21, against Louisville City FC. 

The entire preseason schedule is below. Dates and times are subject to change.

2020 Preseason Schedule:

Sunday, Feb. 9 – Villanova University – 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium

Saturday, Feb. 15 – Penn State University – 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium

Wednesday, Feb. 19 – University of Pittsburgh – 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium

Saturday, Feb. 22 – University of Akron – 2 p.m. at Highmark Stadium

Wednesday, Feb. 26 – Loudoun United FC – 12 p.m. at Highmark Stadium

Monday, March 2 – @Columbus Crew SC – 1 p.m. at TBD venue

John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
