The West Virginia University women’s soccer team checks in at No. 4 in the first United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s National Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers cracked the top five of a national poll for the first time since Oct. 31, 2017. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the numbers of teams competing is down for the 2020 season, and as a result the UCS national poll will only rank 15 teams each week this season.
North Carolina is No. 1 this week, followed by Florida State and Clemson just ahead of WVU. Texas A&M rounds out the top five.
The Mountaineers (2-0, 2-0 Big 12) are one of four Big 12 teams ranked this week along with No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Kansas and No. 14 TCU.
WVU’s next game is scheduled for Friday with a top-10 clash at Oklahoma State.
