Introducing our newest partners to the East: Philadelphia Soccer Now!

As we near the start of our fifth year as Pittsburgh Soccer Now, we are very proud to announce the addition of a partner soccer website, Philadelphia Soccer Now, which will primarily focus on covering Philadelphia region soccer scene.

A good friend and colleague of Pittsburgh Soccer Now for the past four years, Matt Ralph, has served as the Managing Editor of Brotherly Game, which covered the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer along with college, scholastic and youth soccer scene in the Eastern part of the Commonwealth.

When SB Nation and its parent company, Vox Media, announced it was cutting ties with many of its soccer sites, including Brotherly Game, Matt reached out, and we were happy to help facilitate a partnership, and help with building a new site.

Much of the credit of the build of Philadelphia Soccer Now should go to our webmaster, Pittsburgh Sports Now network’s jack-of-all-trades – Joe Steigerwald.

Much like Pittsburgh Soccer Now, the previous Brotherly Game, and now Philadelphia Soccer Now has operated with a small core team (six people: writers and photographers) along with some other occasional contributors. They also produce a couple podcasts.

We are excited about the prospects of having a partner site in Eastern PA and all of the possibilities that can come from this set-up.  In fact, we feel that this could be the start of building a soccer coverage network across Pennsylvania.

We have already collaborated with Matt in the past, as he’s contributed to Pittsburgh Soccer Now‘s coverage on several occasions, namely at the PIAA Championships in Hershey and Mechanicsburg, plus when Western PA teams have played in the Philadelphia area (i.e. Hounds at Union II, Duquesne vs LaSalle, etc.).

In addition to the launch of Philadelphia Soccer Now, as we align with the rest of Pittsburgh Sports Now network as we enter our fifth year of providing the best soccer coverage in the Pittsburgh region, we will be introducing a new logo for our site.  Look for that to added to our site and social media platforms very soon!

John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
