FINAL: Riverhounds 1, Phoenix Rising FC 0
Match Stats: USL Championship Match Center
Match Summary
The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC continue to follow a winning formula that equates to stifling defensive play and goals coming from Arturo Ordonez, as they took down Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium.
With the win, the Hounds (now 6-2-5 overall — good for 23 point) jumped ahead into sole possession of second place in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference standings, as a result of Louisville City’s and Tampa Bay both settling for draws on Saturday night.
It was the third straight match the Hounds most durable center back, Ordonez, scored a goal. This time it came in the 22nd minute when the former Pitt men’s soccer standout connected with a header on the end of a Kenardo Forbes free kick from the left side into the box.
