Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC signed DC United goalkeeper Luis Zamudio to a month-long loan deal, the club announced on Friday.
Zamudio is 24 years old and signed for the MLS side after the 2022 season. He played with Loudoun United, the reserve side of DC United in 2022, making 27 appearances and earning clean sheets in seven of those matches. He made 105 saves and held a .665 save percentage last season.
He hails from Las Vegas, Nev. and holds dual citizenship of the United States and Mexico. Zamudio started out his career in Mexico with Club América Premier, which is an affiliate of Club América in Mexico City. He then came back to the U.S. to play in the lower divisions with North Texas SC, Fort Lauderdale CF, as well as a loan to Miami FC.
Pittsburgh starting goal keeper Jahmali Waite is away with the Jamaican National Team. Jamaica is competing in friendlies and will play in the Gold Cup, which starts next Saturday, June 24, as they take on the U.S. Waite has played in 13 games this season and has five clean sheets to his name.
Zamudio is available to play in the next game for the Riverhounds, which is on the road against Oakland Roots SC, Saturday June 17 at 10 p.m. EST.
