Another Pittsburgh native has signed a professional soccer contract, but in this case, Tanner Rosborough may be one of the youngest players ever from Western Pennsylvania to sign a pro soccer contract at just 15 years of age.

Rosborough, who has been with the Red Bulls Academy for the past year and signed to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through the 2024 season, has now earned a MLS contract as a Homegrown player starting in 2025 through the 2028 MLS season, with an option for 2029.

Rosborough grew up in the Pittsburgh area, attending school in the West Allegheny School District and playing with Beadling Soccer Club beginning at age four, through age 14.

The 15 year-old made his professional debut with New York Red Bulls II on April 21, 2023, against New England Revolution II, making him one of the youngest players to appear in a match in club history.

“Tanner is a talent that will be a very important asset to the club now, and in the future,” Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya said.

“He proved through our Academy that he has an incredible amount of composure in the final third and an inherent ability to find the back of the net.”

The forward has had multiple Youth National Team call ups in his young career, with the most recent being for the U15 CONCACAF Championship down in Miami, Florida. Rosborough scored two goals in six matches as his side cruised to a victory and claim the U15 CONCACAF Championship title.

“Tanner has shown in our Academy why he is so highly regarded, and we cannot be happier to sign him to his first professional contract,” Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. “His skills as a forward at this point in his career have led him to this opportunity, and we know he will take full advantage of it.”

Rosborough, who currently lives with a host family in New Jersey, has been with Red Bulls Academy for just about a year.

The forward quickly made his impact within the system as one of the top scorers in the most recent U15 MLS NEXT season and showcased his talent in the Generation Adidas and MLS NEXT Cups. Rosborough scored the tournament winning goal in stoppage time to lead the U-15’s to a 2-1 win over CF Montreal in the 2023 U-15 MLS NEXT Cup Final.
