It’s been a pretty quiet January thus far for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, but that changed a little bit on Wednesday with a few news nuggets to share.

While some might be anticipating new player signing announcement, the club announced a deal with a new kit and apparel provider, International brand, CHARLY USA.

CHARLY USA will be the official soccer apparel provider of the Hounds beginning with the 2024 USL Championship season.

With the new partnership, the Riverhounds will unveil new home and away kits for the upcoming season.

Pittsburgh Soccer Now has also learned that all rostered players will officially report for preseason on Friday, January 26, with first team training sessions to begin Monday, January 29.

The preseason schedule, which was announced last week, will begin with Pittsburgh hosting Indy Eleven on Tuesday, February 6, at Highmark Stadium (Noon kickoff).   The Hounds will open the regular season Saturday, March 9, at New Mexico and the club’s regular-season home schedule kicks off on Saturday, March 16 against Orange County SC, as the team celebrates its 25th anniversary season.

Pittsburgh currently has 11 players signed to its roster for 2024, and has not made any additional roster signing announcements since November 29.

New Jersey Reveal Date Set

The first opportunity to see and purchase the new jerseys will be at a special kit reveal event at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. The club revealed details about the unveiling event will be announced in the coming weeks.

The deal coincides with the upcoming 25th anniversary season of the Riverhounds, and CHARLY will be the pro team’s exclusive kit manufacturer, in addition to creating an exciting new line of Hounds clothing and activewear. The partnership also extends to the Riverhounds Academy beginning with the 2024-25 competitive year.

“Our new multi-year partnership with CHARLY symbolizes a combination of tradition and innovation, mirroring the spirit of the Riverhounds, our passionate fanbase, and the vibrant city of Pittsburgh,” Riverhounds PresidentJeff Garner said.

“Anticipation is already building as we look forward to unveiling not just our new, custom kits, but also a full line of high-quality, fashionable apparel.”

CHARLY, headquartered in León, Mexico, is the official apparel partner of Mexico’s Liga MX and the kit provider for six Liga MX clubs, including León, Pachuca, Atlas and Santos Laguna. In the U.S., the brand outfitted USL Championship side San Diego Loyal and recently partnered with the Oakland Roots. The Riverhounds are now the first American professional club outside of California to be outfitted by the rapidly growing brand.

“Pittsburgh fans are some of the best in all of sports, and we are thrilled to be the brand they can associate with for the long term. This city deserves another championship, and we’re thrilled the Riverhounds are committed to making that happen with CHARLY,” CHARLY USA Managing Director Jason Wells said.

“The CHARLY kits won’t just be for Hounds fans, but for all Pittsburghers to enjoy and support their city.”
