The Duquesne Women’s Soccer Team saw a pair of Dukes earn recognition from the Atlantic 10 Conference, as voted upon by all 15 coaches across the league.

Junior forward Margey Brown was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team, the first Duquesne team member to make a team since Deena DeBaldo’s 2019 placement on the second team.

Brown started in 16 of Duquesne’s 17 games, pacing the Dukes with her 23 points, which consisted of nine goals, which tied her for fourth in the conference, to go along with five assists.

A member of the 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, Brown scored in each of her first six contests, including a season-opening hat trick in a victory over Mercyhurst. In that Mercyhurst game, Brown matched a single-game program point total. This combined with a goal at Pitt, allowed her to be named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week.

That was not the only recognition Brown received, as she was named a member of the A-10 All-Academic Team, owning a cumulative 3.54 GPA as a physical therapy major.

“Being named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team and All-Academic Team means a lot to me,” Brown told PSN. “It’s a recognition of my hard work both on the field and in the classroom. I’m proud to represent Duquesne and my teammates, and it motivates me to keep pushing for even greater success.”

In addition to Brown’s honors, Hailey Longwell was named a member of the 2024 All-Rookie Team.

Longwell is the 16th Duquesne player ever to make this list and one of five active Dukes in Brown, Mackenzie Muir, Anna Bundy and Jayden Sharpless.

This season, Longwell scored six goals and started in nine games. She was one of five Dukes to achieve a double-digit point total, and her six goals ranked second on the team.

Longwell’s success this season came after returning to the pitch following two ACL surgeries, something which makes the award all the sweeter.

Twice Longwell achieved multiple goals in a game, first against Mercyhurst and once more against Slippery Rock.

“It means everything to me,” Longwell explained to PSN. “I am humbled and thankful that I have the opportunity to be able to compete and play the game I love. An award like this, gives me peace and hope above all else. Peace in knowing that all the pain, heartbreak, doubt, and hard work was worth it. And hope in knowing there is always a way through. I owe it all to my family and God. They carried me through and got me to where I am today.”

Duquesne was 9-7-1 overall during the 2024 season with interim head coach Dave Gray at the helm. A prolific junior class accounted for 79.6% of the Dukes scoring. Duquesne projects to return eight of 11 starters in 2025.
