Final Scoreboard: NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament (Second Round)

The second round of the NCAA men’s soccer tournament played out on Sunday with 16 matches, including both Pitt and West Virginia.

The Panthers advanced to the Sweet 16, but it wasn’t easy.

Playing with 10 men for the final 50 minutes, Pitt found a penalty kick conversion late in the first half, then hung on with resolute defending to keep Cornell off the board.

Pitt will now face The Roos of Kansas City in the Sweet Sixteen (Third Round) on Saturday, December 1, at 5 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field.

West Virginia scored very early in its match, but Virginia responded with a pair of first half goals, then defended well the rest of the way for a 2-1 victory to deny the Mountaineers a second straight trip to the College Cup.
