Pitt women’s soccer team had its NCAA Tournament bubble burst when the Selection Committee revealed the brackets in early November, but it was once again evident that they had a legitimate argument to be in the field.
After all, the Panthers hail from the best conference in the country as four teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference have advanced to the NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup, each picking up wins on Friday and Saturday.
In addition, two prominent players from Western PA, North Carolina’s Tessa Dellarose and Stanford’s Mia Bhuta, were instrumental in helping their blue blood programs back to the College Cup.
The clinching moment 🤩

North Carolina advanced to its 31st College Cup needing some dramatic finishes.
Among those included a second round game winner from Brownsville’s Dellarose, who also played with Riverhounds Development Academy and has been tabbed as the first player to sign with the USL W League’s Pittsburgh Riveters for their upcoming inaugural season.
That game winner came with just 17 seconds left in the match, as Dellarose reacted to a loose ball in front of goal.

In addition, this weekend, Dellarose also delivered the corner kick that resulted in a golden goal that lifted the Tar Heels to a 2-1 win vs Penn State.
Nothing like a golden goal to advance to the College Cup 🤩

In addition, Mia Bhuta, a Mt. Lebanon native, has earned another trip to women’s soccer’s biggest stage, as Stanford, a No. 3 seed in their region, advanced to the Final Four with a 2-0 win vs Notre Dame.
The Cardinal secured the win in the second half when Bhuta sent an inswinging ball toward the near post where Kitahata rose and headed it home for her team-best ninth tally of the year — for the two goal lead.
