In this latest Pulse of Pittsburgh Soccer, we have the latest soccer schedule for the Riverhounds remaining preseason matches over the course of the next week along with some of the college spring scrimmages that have been shared — as Pitt men’s soccer, Robert Morris men’s soccer joined Pitt women’s soccer in posting their Spring schedules.

In addition, Pittsburgh’s USL W-League entrants: Steel City FC and Pittsburgh Riveters SC along with Steel City FC’s men’s team in USL League Two schedules are now out.

From a content standpoint, look for a few new episodes of the Sounding Off on Soccer podcast coming in the next few days, as there are a bunch of burning topics we’d like to get to — from last week’s USL Division One announcement, 2025 Open Cup, the addition of Riveters on Pittsburgh’s soccer landscape and much more — so be on the lookout for that.

Riverhounds Preseason Week Four

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are in the midst of week four of the preseason — that’s right — things are flying by as the Hounds defeated Columbus Crew 2, by score of 1-0, in a match played in very snowy conditions on Sunday.

Up next, the Hounds were scheduled to take on Pitt, at Ambrose Urbanic Field, on Friday evening (6 p.m. kickoff) — but – with temperatures expected to be somewhere around 24 degrees at that time — the match has been moved been moved to a 9:30 a.m. kickoff at the Pitt Sports Dome on the school’s Oakland campus.

Fans will not be permitted to attend as the Hounds and Panthers play an exhibition match for the fourth straight year and the eighth time in the past nine years.

As far as the Hounds’ roster, things remain the same with only a little bit of movement among trialists coming in and out of camp, as indicated at the start of preseason by Riverhounds Head Coach Bob Lilley.

Meanwhile, for the Panthers, they’ll be featuring a few new transfer students on the roster as they embark on a busy Spring season under Head Coach Jay Vidovich, as he enters his 10th (!!!???) season at Pitt.

Pitt men’s soccer adds third and final mid-year signee with Swedish left back Jacob Redenfors

Back  to the Hounds — they’ll be looking to round out their roster, as they still have 17 players officially signed at the moment.  With a little more than a half dozen trialists in camp, some who have performed well, scoring goals and also a few others impressing on the back line and in goal, we expect to see more signings to come in the next week.
