Pitt men’s soccer adds third and final mid-year signee with Swedish left back Jacob Redenfors

Pitt men’s soccer program announced via social media platforms on Wednesday they’ve added their third and final mid-year addition to its roster with the signing of Jacob Redenfors, a left back from Sweeden.

Redenfors spent the past year playing in Sweeden’s Division One with Tvååkers IF, where he made 24 appearances and prior to that was rostered with Varbergs BoIS FC, also in the top division.

Redenfors joins Pitt’s squad in the Spring as a true freshman — joined by a pair of transfer newcomers — Marco Silva (Marshall) and former Kiski Area and Riverhounds Academy standout Anders Bordoy.

Pitt’s roster is expected to return a strong nucleus to a program that achieved No. 1 ranking in United Soccer Coaches poll and reached the Elite Eight in 2024.

Still, numerous players from last year’s squad have graduated/completed eligibility, including Michael Sullivan, who was drafted by Toronto FC in MLS SuperDraft, plus a few others have left early for professional opportunities, including Casper Grening (Akademisk Boldklub Gladsaxe in Denmark) and sources have informed PSN that goalkeeper Cabral Carter is with LAFC, signed to play with MLS Next Pro club this season)

The Panthers have not announced their full Spring schedule, but are scheduled to host Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on February 25, at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
