WPIAL girls soccer 1st round playoff scoreboard

Welcome to the WPIAL girls soccer scoreboard for first-round playoff action.

All teams are in action, except the four schools in 4A and 2A that received first-round byes, and will be able to rest up until Thursday’s quarterfinals.

PSN’s girls contributor, Ed Rosensteel and our photographer Ed Thompson, were at Belle Vernon for what turned out to be two very competitive matches.

First, in 2A Brownsville got a ‘sister-trick’ in beating Steel Valley 3-2, with Tessa Dellarose scoring twice, and her sister Tella Dellarose with the other goal.

Dellarose ‘sister-trick’ leads Brownsville past Steel Valley, 3-2

In the nightcap, with Belle Vernon hosted Ambridge, and things looked bleak for the home side, after giving up two first half goals. But Belle Vernon rallied for three unanswered goals in the second half, capped by Chloe Morgan’s game winner coming from a corner kick with just 36 seconds left in the contest.

Belle Vernon completes dramatic comeback in beating Ambridge, 3-2
