PIAA boys soccer tournament brackets released

The WPIAL wrapped up its boys and girls soccer season with an exciting weekend of action at Highmark Stadium this past weekend.

Now, all of the Champions, runner-ups, and some additional third place/PIAA play-in game winners and in Class 3A, will enter the state tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

PIAA Tournament Schedule (WPIAL – District 7 teams) 

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 – First Round 


Class 4A Bracket

5:30 pm – Pine-Richland (WPIAL Champs) vs Warwick at Pine-Richland

6 pm – Seneca Valley (WPIAL runner-up) at State College


Class 3A Bracket

5 pm – Moon (WPIAL Champs) vs Palmyra at Moon

5 pm – Ambridge (WPIAL runner-up) at Bradford

6 pm – Plum (WPIAL third place) at Erie Cathedral Prep


Class 2A Bracket

6 pm – Deer Lakes (WPIAL Champs) vs Harbour Creek

5 pm – Beaver (WPIAL runner-up) vs Bedford at Windber

7:30 pm – Quaker Valley (WPIAL third place) at Mercyhurst Prep


Class 1A Bracket 

6 pm – Winchester Thurston (WPIAL Champs) vs United at Norwin HS

6 pm Charleroi (WPIAL runner-up) at Karns City

6 pm – Eden Christian (WPIAL third place) at Seneca

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).
