Sounding Off on Soccer: Previewing Riverhounds-Columbus Crew Open Cup clash with Columbus Dispatch’s Bailey Johnson

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Columbus Crew will battle in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup’s Round of 16 at Highmark Stadium.

It will be the first match for the Riverhounds against a Major League Soccer club at Highmark Stadium since 2015, when they faced DC United.

Pittsburgh Soccer Now‘s John Krysinsky previewed the match with Bailey Johnson, who covers the Crew as a beat writer for the Columbus Dispatch, as they took a closer look at the Crew-Hounds match-up, and learned more about the Crew discussed what to expect when the teams battle to advance in the National Tournament.

He is also author of 'Miracle on the Mon' -- a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise.
