Duquesne’s Ask Ekeland has been named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week after recording his first career hat trick, on just four shots, in the Dukes win over Virginia Tech this past weekend.

Ekeland rattled off three straight scores in the 51st, 61st, and 75th minutes sealing a 5-1 victory, the first of the season for DU. The sophomore midfielder from Stavanger, Norway holds the early-season lead in the Atlantic 10 as the only player with three goals after opening weekend.

Led by Ask Ekeland’s hat trick, Duquesne trounce Virginia Tech, 5-1

The hat trick was the first since 2014 at Duquesne and the fourth time in program history that a Duke recorded three or more goals in one game.

Ekeland and the Dukes will be back in action on Thursday hosting Bowling Green at 7 pm for their home opener.
