Riverhounds 2024 preseason schedule to begin in early February

Riverhounds soccer matches will be back to Highmark Stadium starting in early February.

That’s right, on Friday, the Riverhounds SC announced its five-match preseason schedule ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season, a slate that includes contests with fellow USL sides and top-tier NCAA opposition.

Three of the five matches will be at home, including the preseason opener on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at noon against Indy Eleven.

The remaining two home games pit the Hounds against teams that have reached the NCAA College Cup in recent seasons — 2023 semifinalist West Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. and 2020 and 2022 semifinalist Pitt on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.

The preseason schedule also includes two road trips to face familiar Eastern Conference opponents. The Hounds visit Loudoun United FC on Friday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. and end the preseason with a trip to face Louisville City FC on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m., one week before the season opener at New Mexico United.

All three home matches will be open to fans, and admission is free of charge. Home preseason matches will be played at Highmark Stadium, but in the event of inclement weather, matches could be moved indoors at the AHN Montour Sports Complex in Coraopolis.

Additional details about the Hounds’ road preseason matches will be announced by the hosting teams.

The Hounds’ regular-season home schedule kicks off on Saturday, March 16 against Orange County SC, as the team celebrates its 25th anniversary season.

The club’s roster remains with 11 players signed, but free agent additions are expected to come soon, plus more players looking to make the squad will be brought in on trial during the preseason.

Strong Core Remains: Riverhounds pick up contract options for seven, bringing 2024 roster to 11 players
