Final: RMU 2, Southern Indiana 2
RMU women’s soccer team demonstrated resilience in their first away match of the season, rallying from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Southern Indiana. With this result, the Colonials remain unbeaten, moving to 1-0-1 on the season.
RMU began on the front foot with the first two shots of the match, but Southern Indiana struck first in the seventh minute as Eva Boer headed in a cross to give the Screaming Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
USI maintained pressure in the final ten minutes of the half, recording five shots and two corner kicks.
The Screaming Eagles capitalized on their momentum, doubling their lead with another header in the 44th minute, sending the Colonials into halftime trailing 2-0.
The Colonials found a breakthrough in the 65th minute when senior Paloma Swankler headed in a cross from Taylor Day, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Goalkeeper Brenna Murray was instrumental in RMU’s comeback, making five crucial saves in the second half to keep the deficit at one.
With just six minutes remaining, RMU’s persistence paid off. A turnover in midfield allowed junior center back Jillian Marvin to send a through ball into space, where Haleigh Finale chipped the USI goalkeeper to level the score at 2-2.

Possession was evenly split at 50% for both teams. Southern Indiana held the edge in shots (19) and shots on goal (10). Swankler scored in her second consecutive game to start the season, while Finale recorded her first goal of the year and 16th overall at RMU. Both led the team with four shots, including two on target. Day registered her first assist of 2024 and fourth of her career, while Marvin also earned her first assist of the season. Defensively, Murray matched her career-high with eight saves, a mark she previously reached against Detroit Mercy last season (9/30/23).
