  • Major Milestone — Peters Township HC Pat Vereb reaches 400 wins.  Last Wednesday after a 6-0 victory against Baldwin, Vereb reached an impressive milestone, totalling 400 wins in his 25-year career coaching girls high school soccer.  Vereb’s career has included stops at Keystone Oaks and Mt. Lebanon before taking over at Peters Township in 2007 where he’s won 295 games in 18 years with the Indians
  • Wednesday’s Match-Up To Watch…  Class 4A, Section 1 — Penn-Trafford vs Latrobe

Penn-Trafford completed the first half of section play as the lone unbeaten team at the top of Section 1 and can take a big step in nailing down the top spot with a result against one of the biggest challengers in this section, Latrobe (4-2-1 overall, 4-1-0 in section).  The first match between the two sides was a five-goal affair which saw the Warriors outlast the Wildcats, 3-2.

P-T are led by seniors Alexis Brown, a Cal (Pa.) commit and goalkeeper Rease Solomon, a Robert Morris recruit. Latrobe, which has not lost since that setback vs Penn-Trafford on September 4, has built a solid resume with a host of talented players that include four players who’ve been included on the Moe Rosensteel Award watch list: Maddy Petruzzi, Robin Reilly, Ava Yurko and Annalyse Bauer.
