WPIAL Boys Soccer: Tuesday’s Tidbits

  • Tuesday’s schedule will see the start of the second half of section play for many teams in Class 3A, 2A and 1A.
  • Did you check out the latest WPIAL Boys Soccer Standings and PSN’s Playoff Seeding Projections yet?  What are you waiting for?  Across the WPIAL, just about every boys soccer program has reached the halfway mark in section play.

WPIAL Boys Soccer Standings and (early) Playoff Seeding Projections (9/22/2024)

  • Class 3A Rivalry return match — Mars vs Hampton — the Northern rivals are almost always in the same section, and those battles are always good.  Both programs have won WPIAL and PIAA titles at different points in the past 15 years.   With experienced Head Coaches Matt McAwley (Hampton) and Chris Knauff (Mars).  Once again this is an important return match for both teams, as they’re in very tight race for first place in Class 3A, Section one with a couple of surprising contenders, Indiana and Armstrong. The first match between the two sides couldn’t be decided after 100 minutes, as the Planets and Talbots played to a scoreless draw.  Hampton’s (5-1-2 overall, 3-1-2 in section) only loss of the season came at Indiana, 1-0, last week.  The only setback this season for Mars (7-1-2 overall, 5-1-1 in section) came against Armstrong.

      • Peters Township (9-1-1 overall, 5-0-0 in section) is unbeaten in section play

    • Class 2A
      • Charleroi (8-0-0 overall, 7-0-0 in section
