Preview: Robert Morris women’s soccer look to play their game against No. 1 seed Milwaukee in Horizon League semifinal

The No. 4 seed RMU women’s soccer team will take on top-seeded Milwaukee in the Horizon League Semifinal this Thursday, November 7, at 2:00 PM ET. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

RMU (6-6-6, 4-3-3 #HLWSOC) secured a spot in the semifinals with a 1-0 overtime win over No. 5 seed IU Indy in the quarterfinals. Jillian Marvin clinched the victory by heading in the game-winning goal just two minutes into overtime.

Goalkeeper Brenna Murray was instrumental, making eight saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season.

Junior forward Paloma Swankler ranks in the top five of several offensive categories among Horizon League players. Her six goals are among the conference leaders, and her five assists are tied for third. Swankler’s 17 points place her fourth in the league.

Captain Jillian Marvin has been a mainstay on the field this season, logging every minute (1,622) for the Colonials. The Venetia, Pa., native has contributed one game-winning goal and three assists.

RMU will be seeking their first win against Milwaukee. Earlier this season, the Panthers defeated the Colonials 3-0 in Milwaukee.

Last year in the semifinal round, Milwaukee bested RMU 5-0.

Milwaukee (10-6-2, 9-0-1 #HLWSOC) enters the semifinal with a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed, remaining unbeaten in conference play with one draw. Senior forward Kayla Rollins leads the Horizon League with 13 goals and 29 points. Sophomore Ellie Rebmann has a team-high six assists, while defender Anna Champine has started every game, amassing 1,619 minutes. Goalkeeper Parker Donahugh boasts nine wins and eight clean sheets.

UP NEXT

The winner of Thursday’s match will advance to the Horizon League Final, scheduled for Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 PM ET in Milwaukee. They’ll face the winner of the other semifinal between No. 2 Northern Kentucky and No. 3 Detroit Mercy.
