All the action comes late as Robert Morris men’s soccer settle for 1-1 draw with Cleveland State

FINAL: Robert Morris 1, Cleveland State 1

Match Stats

All the action came in the final five minutes as both sides found the back of the net, resulting in a 1-1 draw between RMU and Cleveland State on Saturday at North Athletic Complex in Moon.

The Colonials move to 4-2-5 overall and remain unbeaten in Horizon League play at 2-0-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Goalkeeper Josh Lane was tested early, making two key saves in the opening 12 minutes to keep the match level.

The remainder of the first half saw limited offensive opportunities, though RMU controlled possession with 58% of the ball.

After the Vikings produced two early shots in the second half, the Colonials began to settle into rhythm.

In the 72nd minute, Anass Hadran launched a strike from distance that forced a diving stop from the CSU keeper to preserve the stalemate.

RMU finally broke through in the 86th minute. Dribbling through midfield, Kyler Miller found Jack Bejarano down the right flank. Bejarano cut inside a defender and buried his shot into the left side netting for his third goal of the season, giving the Colonials a late 1-0 advantage.

However, Cleveland State managed to equalize in the closing seconds. With just one second remaining, Tom Mertz headed in a corner from Lennart Heck to secure a point for the Vikings.
