Quaker Valley alum and Chatham standout Bennett Haas contributes to US Deaf Men’s National Team’s 3-1-win vs Germany

On Sunday, in a send-off match ahead of 2025 Deaflympics, US Men’s Deaf National Team defeated Germany, 3-1, at Pratt Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut.

Former Quaker Valley High School standout who currently attends and plays soccer for Chatham University, Bennett Haas, made his fourth appearance for the squad, when he came on in the 68th minute.

The match was part of doubleheader event, with the U.S. Women’s National Team playing against Portugal

Goals were scored by Samson Abraham, Michael Schmid, and Tate Lancaster in securing the win for the US in the friendly.

This was an important match for the US side as it continues preparations for November’s Deaflympics in Japan.

In previous appearances, Haas has registered one start and registered a goal and an assist in the US 4-0 Pan American Games win vs Mexico to secure the bronze medal.

Haas excelled at Quaker Valley, where he played in the 2023 WPIAL Boys Class 2A title match against South Park.  Before that match, he was a special guest on Kids on the Pitch Podcast with John Krysinsky.  In his first two seasons at Chatham, Haas made 29 appearances, with 10 starts (all this year), scoring three goals and adding two assists.
