But the biggest news didn’t even happen on the pitch: the league office confirmed that the road to the W League’s Central Conference postseason will run directly through the Steel City and FNB Stadium to be specific.

🚨 BREAKING: W League Postseason is Coming to Pittsburgh!
The Pittsburgh Riveters SC have officially won the bid to host the first two rounds of the USL W League Playoffs (Central Conference) right here at F.N.B. Stadium.
Securing the division crown was just step one; now, the Riveters get the ultimate home-field advantage for the Central Conference Semifinals and Finals.
he first two rounds of the playoffs will be played on Pittsburgh’s South Shore with Central Conference semifinal matches at 3:30 and 7 p.m. Friday, July 3 and the final at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 5. The winner will advance to the USL W League’s national semifinals on the weekend of July 11-12.
The Riveters are one of three teams whose participation is already confirmed, along with defending Central Conference champ Minnesota Aurora FC and playoff newcomer Union FC Macomb. Seedings and matchups for the conference semifinals will be confirmed after the conclusion of the regular season this weekend.
Mark your calendars for early July—the path to the national championship officially goes through Station Square. Ticket packages are dropping fast, so get ready to pack the stadium and show the rest of the country how Pittsburgh supports women’s soccer.

In an unprecedented year for our local soccer landscape, this weekend marks the fifth distinct Derby matchup of 2026 when you factor in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup back in March, USL League Two, and the W League.
The Riveters have rightfully captured headlines after locking up their second consecutive Great Forest Division title.

The road to a national championship is locked into a 16-team, single-elimination bracket. Seeds are calculated strictly on Points Per Game (PPG), but hosting isn’t a guarantee for the high seed—it’s decided by a competitive venue bidding process.
Because the W League brackets teams geographically, the Riveters will start their postseason run facing familiar regional foes from the Midwest and Great Lakes. The Great Forest Champion Riveters will open the postseason at FNB Stadium against either the Heartland Division representative or a Central Conference Wild Card qualifier — for sake of this article — we are going to presume it will be Racing Louisville’s W League squad.

Should Steel City advance, they enter a grueling 35-team, single-elimination national bracket commencing July 13th.
The Central Conference sends 8 total representatives (5 division winners + 3 wildcards). Winners advance through a gauntlet of regional pod hosts (Rounds of 32 and 16 from July 17-19), leading to the Conference Finals/National Semis (July 24-26), and culminating in the National Final on August 1st.
