This week in #PghSoccer @FtPittRegiment @SteelCityFC @PghRiverhounds

After a busy week, the local teams won’t return to action until the coming weekend.
Fort Pitt Regiment
It was a tough weekend for the PA West sponsored local NPSL team, losing back-to-back games to AFC Cleveland — conceding all three goals in stoppage time, as their record has now dropped to 1-7 overall.
On Friday, June 23, the two teams remained scoreless until the stoppage time, when AFC Cleveland’s Mike Derezic broke the deadlock in the 93rd minute.
The return match at Highmark Stadium on Sunday didn’t go much better for the local team, losing 2-0   Cleveland netted their first goal during first half stoppage time and found the back of the net again in second half stoppage to take both ends of the home and home series this year.

The good news for the Regiment, is they will be playing the remainder of their home schedule at Highmark Stadium, starting on Saturday against Dayton Dynamo featuring a former Riverhounds keeper, Ryan Hulings.
Steel City FC
Pittsburgh’s women’s team in WPSL, Steel City FC, picked up their fourth win of the season on Sunday at Ellis School, defeating FC Indiana, 3-2.   In two games against FC Indiana, Steel City have won by a combined 8-6.

Riverhounds
We’ve already reported that the Hounds, who are off until their annual 4th of July home match (against Charlotte, 7 p.m. kickoff) are dealing with a short-term shortage with goalkeepers — as Trey Mitchell is recovering from a separated shoulder, while Keasel Broome, who earned USL Team of the Week honors for his five-save effort in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Tampa Bay, will be on international call-up with Barbados.
