Late goal lifts Kent State past Pitt, 1-0

A goal in the 89th minute of play proved to be the difference maker in Thursday night’s as the University of Pittsburgh fell to Kent State, 1-0 at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio.
Kent State’s Isabelle Mihail put one in the net for the home team, on an assist from former Belle Vernon and Century United standout Hayden Pascoe with just under 90 seconds remaining in regulation, as the Golden Flashes would hold on for the victory.
On the evening, Kent State out-shot Pitt 16-11 and 9-4 on goal. Pitt keeper Katelyn McEachern was forced to make four saves, compared to eight for the Golden Flashes netminder.
Taylor Pryce led the offensive charge for Pitt, recording five shots, one of which was on goal. Both Sarah Krause and Ashley Moreira added a pair of shots, each with one on goal.
With the loss, Pitt falls to 3-2-2 on the season and 1-1-2 on the road.

The Panthers continue their three-game road trip, traveling to Nebraska (Sept 10) before opening ACC play at Wake Forest (Sept. 15).
